Minnesota Woodworkers Guild presents:
Introduction to Woodworking 1
May 2nd from 8:30 am to 5:30pm
Taught by Yana Frank

Registration is OPEN

In this class, you will learn effective and safe ways to use some of the core woodworking tools including the table saw, planer, bandsaw and router. You will learn how to rip and crosscut on the table saw, resaw on the bandsaw, plane to a certain thickness on the planer, route grooves on the router table, and cut tight miter joints on the tablesaw. You will understand how to get a continuous grain around the outside of a box. Each student will make a small wooden box with a sliding lid to take home.
Originally from Germany, Yana Frank has lived in Minneapolis for almost 30 years. After studying architecture, she apprenticed in a wood shop in order to learn the practical aspects of furniture making. After years of working as a craftsperson, she recently started her own business combining her woodworking skills with her passion for design. She loves teaching how to use the woodshop in a safe way in order to empower people to start creating beautiful pieces out of wood.
